Barrington Research Group (“BRG”, “we”, “us”) operates the BRG Nav mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.
2. Information We Collect
When you use BRG Nav, we collect the following data:
– GPS track data (latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, and timestamps) recorded while you use the app.
– Device information (device model, operating system version, app version).
– Account information (email address) if you create an account.
– Waypoints and notes you save within the app.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your track data is used for the following purposes:
– To display aggregated, deidentified track data on public maps showing where search efforts have taken place for VH-MDX.
– To provide you with personal track history and statistics within the app.
– To improve track mapping accuracy and coverage in the Barrington Tops region.
4. Data Deidentification
All track data displayed on public maps is deidentified. Your name, email address, and other personal details are never shown publicly. Track data is aggregated with data from other users so that individual routes cannot be attributed to specific people.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and implement row-level security policies to protect your data. Track data is stored locally on your device and synced to our servers when you are connected to the internet.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Deidentified, aggregated track data may be shared with emergency services and research partners to support search efforts in the Barrington Tops region.
7. Your Rights
You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at missingaircraftvhmdx@gmail.com. Upon account deletion, your personal information will be removed from our servers. Previously contributed deidentified track data that has been aggregated into public maps may be retained in aggregate form.
8. Children’s Privacy
BRG Nav is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, you will be asked to review and accept the updated terms within the app before continuing to use BRG Nav.
