The Upper Williams River area has been the focal point for NSW Police Rescue organised VH-MDX search activities of the last few years.

To support their research, Glenn Horrocks carried out an analysis of the likely winds in the Upper Williams River area during the VH-MDX accident.

The analysis offers excellent insight into the wind strength and direction at various levels in the area. Downdrafts were also analysed giving clues to what pragmatic effects these had on a downward flight path vector.

Although our current area of interest is significantly east of the upper Williams, this analysis will be used for our current flight path modelling until an analysis of the area east of Gloucester Tops is performed.
